Long ago, the world belonged to humans. Then, the Old Ones came.

Mankind cannot play innocent in these affairs. It was the greed of their elite, those who lived in the "global north", who brought this ruin. For the Old Ones slept in the depths of the Earth. And there they would have remained for millennia. Were it left to the Elder Gods' plan, mankind would have been spared The Old Ones. Yet, mankind chose otherwise.

Drilling too deep for fuel for their luxuries, mankind disturbed The Old Ones and brought their wrath. These titans awoke and surfaced from the dark depths of the ocean. In a year, all of civilization had ended. Mankind was forced underground into small communities, cowering from the titanic Old Ones that owned the surface.

In their twilight years, mankind's greatest minds made the Anti-Old One Defense Armaments, or AOODA for short. This system of gas powered pulleys and arm-mounted rocket launchers allowed pilots to get in close and deal debilitating strikes against the titanic Old Ones.

The Old Ones refuse to die easily, however. Powerful, horrifying, and unknowable, these eldritch beings can survive what would kill scores of men. Any victory is hard fought, and causalities are guaranteed.

And thus they whittle away at what is left of mankind. Thus, there is no hope for a future, merely a tomorrow.

Welcome to their world.

Hunt For The Elder Gods is a Powered By The Apocalpyse game with an interesting mix of genres. It is loosely a cthluhu-mythos game, but draws from the general concepts rather than the texts. It is inspired loosey by the anime series "Attack On Titan." Mechanically, the title is an adapation of Vel Mini's freeware game "Titan World." It's an "action anime, cthluh mythos, post-apocalyptic" tabletop roleplaying game.

Unlike most other games using the PbtA engine, Hunt For The Elder Gods is brutal. Player characters, called Pilots, start the game with 0 in all their stats and no moves outside of the Basic moves. There is no health system, instead the game relies upon the narrative effects of the Basic Moves and GM moves to put players into a deadly situation. Once a Pilot is near death, they must be saved or escape. Otherwise, death is swift.

If the Rookie Pilots survive a mission, they can earn a name and work towards advancing into more formidable and powerful pilots. Their Holds need them, after all, as these isolated communities are constantly advancing towards total doom in this desolate world. Survival is the main prize to be won. For every Pilot's luck will eventually run out and every Hold will eventually meet their doom. Every day that can be won back from oblivion is a gift. One sadly earned through the death of these brave pilots.

Hunt For The Elder Gods is a microgame and assumes familiarity with the PbtA engine. It does not re-explain concepts familiar to people well-versed with the engine. We do not reccomend this title for players new to the system.
