Venture Forth - System Reference Document
A downloadable game
Venture Forth is a design experiment. It was an attempt to capture a type of tired success that I had previously only seen done with custom dice. However, it was not a concept that I planned to complete. Not at least at this time. As such, instead of letting it linger in my mind forever, I created the System Reference Document as a proof of concept.
Venture Forth is the very basic outline of a narrative-first, dicepool system designed around generating a pool of Success and Advantages to determine the outcome of a situation. It adapts concepts seen in a few other narrative first titles, such as Fate Core. The primary focus is on dynamic dice rolls that generate a lot of information from a single roll, while pulling from numerous traits that the characters possess.
This document exists as Developer Tool primarily. Essentially, this document exists for other developers to use it to develop their own games. This system is, in my mind, incomplete and it is untested. I am putting it out there for others to use if they like the concepts.
To facilitate the maximum ease, three versions of the SRD were created to license it under CC-BY, OGL 1.0a, and ORC. You are free to use whichever license you feel works best for your needs.
